My name is Nikola Tanaskovic (but to most it's just Nik) and I'm an aspiring independent filmmaker and videographer based in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia. I'm currently finishing up my Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts Degree at Capilano University where I specialize in the art of picture editing and location sound.
I've been the picture editor on many of my peer's short films (many of which can be viewed on my website by clicking here) and have enjoyed every minute of it. I love being able to carve out a story, dictate the pace of a scene and watch as an entire world comes to life before my eyes.
Additionally, I've found much enjoyment in working on set as the location sound mixer. It started in my first year of university when I got pushed into the role of boom operator when nobody else wanted to do it. After that, when one of my colleagues needed a location sound person, they would often come to me. It's a production role that frequently gets overlooked but is an integral part of the film making process. The visuals in a film need not always be perfect (e.g. Blair Witch Project) but when what you hear sounds off, it takes you out of the world completely.
I've also recently been given the grand opportunity of working with Vancouver Whitecaps FC as a video intern where I have been able to learn an in house videographer workflow. I have been able to shoot and edit my own projects as well as edit footage shot by others.
